Illini Formula Electric services (a.k.a Illini Formula Electric services, IFE Services, IFE Service) encompass public and private websites, software, and tools that are available at illiniformulaelectric.com, available under an illiniformulaelectric.com subdomain, or available using Illini Formula Electric credentials. These services include, but are not limited to, Mattermost, Wiki (MediaWiki), Portal (IFE Portal), Grafana, and more.
Protecting user data and privacy is important to us at Illini Formula Electric. The privacy and data of future members, current members, and alumni is a priority to Illini Formula Electric. Illini Formula Electric does not sell user data.
User data is not end-to-end encrypted but is encrypted in transit and, whenever possible, encrypted at rest. Illini Formula Electric services are run on infrastructure owned and maintained by the University of Illinois and The Grainger College of Engineering. In certain limited cases, infrastructure maintenance is also carried out by University of Illinois students. User data is visible to persons performing infrastructure maintenance.
User data is stored in facilities within the United States, however data may leave United States jurisdiction whenever Illini Formula Electric members (Illini Formula Electric service users) leave the United States and are subject to the laws of their geographic location.
We use a variety of commonly-used technologies, like cookies, to understand how you use Illini Formula Electric services, make our services safer and easier to use, and to help create a better and more customizable experience for you. These technologies generally include JavaScript, and a variety of "locally stored data" technologies, such as cookies and local storage.
Depending on which technology we use, locally stored data may include text, Internet Protocol (“IP”) address, browser version, pages that you visit, the time and date of your visit, the time spent on those pages, your location, your Illini Formula Electric credentials, your Illinois NetID, and other details about your device.

Whenever you visit an Illini Formula Electric service, we collect information that your browser sends to us that is called Log Data. This Log Data may include information such as your Internet Protocol (“IP”) address, browser version, pages that you visit, the time and date of your visit, the time spent on those pages, your location, Illini Formula Electric credentials, the name of your internet service provider or mobile carrier, the website that referred you, information about your device hardware, and other statistics.
Because of how browsers work, we receive some information automatically when you visit Illini Formula Electric services. This includes when you use an online tool on a third-party site that loads information coming from Illini Formula Electric services.
Sometimes, we automatically receive location data, device metadata, and other metadata, from your device. For example, if you want to upload a file, we may receive metadata, such as the place and time you took the photo, automatically from your device. If you do not want metadata sent to us at the time of your upload, please change your settings on your device.
Illini Formula Electric services use CloudFlare services. CloudFlare has visibility to the requests and actions you take on Illini Formula Electric services. This may include the IP address of the device you are using to access the Internet, which is used to infer your geographical location, and all Log Data as defined above.
Illini Formula Electric services use Amazon Web Services though the University of Illinois to ensure service resiliency. Illini Formula Electric services users are subject to the terms and conditions of Amazon Web Services and Amazon Web Services agreement with the University of Illinois system, including the data access and control policies by University of Illinois and Amazon Web Services.
Illini Formula Electric services rely on email services provided by the University of Illinois system. Emails from Illini Formula Electric services to your University email account are visible to the University of Illinois and are subject to the terms and policies set by the University of Illinois. Emails sent to persons employed by the state may be subject to public disclosure and FOIA requests.
Illini Formula Electric services rely on open source software. In an effort to give back to the open source community and improve the software used, Illini Formula Electric services send analytics data to the developers of the open source software Illini Formula Electric services run on. For more information about what data is sent, how data is sent, and how it is used, consult the specific terms and policies of the software running the Illini Formula Electric service.
User data on Illini Formula Electric's Mattermost (IFE Mattermost, IFE MM, Mattermost) includes, but is not limited to text messages, files, user status, user IP addresses, emoji reactions, user profile information, user membership, and user GitLab(GitLab.com) information. Data is stored, handled, and transferred on infrastructure and systems defined in the General section above. Access to these systems is governed and controlled by each respective systems terms and the rules set by Illini Formula Electric.
Illini Formula Electric Mattermost users who joined on or before December 31st, 2022 are also subject to the terms and conditions, and privacy policy of Amazon Web Services public services. Illini Formula Electric Mattermost users who joined on or before December 31st, 2022 may also be subject to the terms and conditions, and privacy policy of GitLab (GitLab.com).
Users who have created an account on Illini Formula Electric Mattermost may receive emails and push notifications regarding their Mattermost account. The following data is visible to Illini Formula Electric Mattermost administrators and, in certain cases, University of Illinois administrators: user name, NetID, Illinois email, first name, last name, nickname, title, GitLab username, GitLab user ID, message history, access history, client device information.
Users of Mattermost voice calls (Calls, Voice) may expose their IP Address to other users of IFE Mattermost, even if other users are not administrators. This is the inherit nature of WebRTC calls and occurs whenever the user establishes a connection to a Mattermost voice call.
When you make a contribution to any Illini Formula Electric wiki, including on user or discussion pages, you are creating a permanent, public record of every piece of content added, removed, or altered by you. The page history will show when your contribution or deletion was made, as well as your username (if you are signed in) and your IP address. We may use your public contributions, either aggregated with the public contributions of others or individually, to create new features or data-related products for you or to learn more about how the Illini Formula Electric services are used.
You should be aware that specific data made public by you or aggregated data that is made public by us can be used by anyone with read access for analysis and to infer further information, such as which country a user is from, political affiliation and gender.
Your username and NetID will be publicly visible to other users which may include University of Illinois students, staff, faculty, and affiliates, as well as guests on Illini Formula Electric services. Your password is only used to verify that the account is yours. Your IP address is also automatically submitted to us, and we record it temporarily. This is to protect users and project content; in the event of abuse, IP addresses may be associated with usernames as part of an investigation.
Once created, user accounts cannot be removed entirely (although you can usually hide the information on your user page if you choose to). This is because your public contributions must be associated with their author (you!). In some circumstances, some information may be hidden.
While the examples above concerning information about you collected through the use of data collection tools are kept confidential, please note that some information about the actions taken by your username is made publicly available through MediaWiki Public Logs alongside actions taken by other users. For example, a public log may include the date your account was created on Illini Formula Electric Wikis along with the dates that other accounts were created on a Illini Formula Electric Wikis.

Use of Illini Formula Electric services is subject to U.S. export control laws and regulations, or any applicable local laws or regulations. By using Illini Formula Electric services you represent that you are not a prohibited end user under applicable U.S. export laws, regulations, and lists, including but not limited to the U.S. Treasury Department list of Specially Designated Nationals or Blocked Persons. You will not use Illini Formula Electric services in any manner that would violate applicable law, including but not limited to applicable export control laws and regulations.
Storing, communicating, sharing, or otherwise handling ITAR, regulated, or other controlled information on Illini Formula Electric Wikis (Wiki Service, MediaWiki) is strictly forbidden. Such controlled information should only be handled on SharePoint when permitted under applicable U.S. export laws.
Other than information required to provide Illini Formula Electric services, Illini Formula Electric does not knowingly collect personal identifiable information from children under the age of 13.
By accessing or using Illini Formula Electric services you represent that you are a University of Illinois student, staff, faculty, affiliate, have been explicity invited to use Illini Formula Electric services, or are an Illini Formula Electric alumni.
Usage that goes against the values and mission of Illini Formula Electric, violates the terms, violates laws or regulations, or is in bad faith will result in revocation of access, with or without warning.
Illini Formula Electric may modify, suspend, or terminate Illini Formula Electric Services (or any function or feature of the Services) for any reason, and with or without notice.
Illini Formula Electric services may not be available in all geographic regions and may not be available from all devices.
