Illini Formula Electric (IFE) is the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign's electric formula FSAE team. We design, build, and race electric formula cars. Our cars compete every summer at the Formula SAE competition organized by SAE International. We compete in static and dynamic events such as design, presentation, cost, acceleration, skidpad, autocross, endurance, and efficiency.
Starting in 2010 as Illini Hybrid Racing, we initially designed and competed hybrid formula vehicles. In 2013, Illini Hybrid Racing became Illini Formula Electric and designs transitioned to a fully electric vehicle.
Our goal is to bring together people of different scientific, engineering, artistic, and business backgrounds and unite them behind a common goal. Designing and manufacturing our vehicles allows members to apply skills learned in the classroom and learn new skills.
